Paul Broomfield

Paul Broomfield is a highly respected conservator and restorer with over 30 years of experience working at the forefront of heritage conservation in the UK. 

Paul’s training is extensive and hands-on. Beginning as a traditional cabinetmaker, he went on to hone skills in woodcarving, gilding, fine art framing and the restoration of decorative surface finishes and historic furniture. This broad expertise allows him to approach each project with both technical skill and an understanding of historical context.

Paul has worked extensively for the conservation advisors to the National Trust, undertaking the restoration of objects and interiors in some of the UK’s most significant historic buildings. Notable projects include:

  • The Eglantine Table, Sea-Dog Table & the du Cerceau Cabinet at Hardwick Hall – iconic pieces dating from the 16th century

  • The Thomas Chippendale green japanned suite at Nostell Priory

  • The Giordano frames and the pair of Mid 18th Century partial gilt console tables attributed to John Bladwell & Petro Belloni following the fire at the National Trust’s Uppark House

Charlotte brings a blend of creative skill and business expertise to Hunter Broomfield. A trained upholsterer, Charlotte oversees the business operations, client liaison, and project logistics.

Charlotte manages the creation of detailed condition assessment reports, treatment proposals, and cost estimates, ensuring clients, insurers, and loss adjusters receive timely, accurate documentation. She also handles the scheduling and coordination of restoration works, including site visits, removals, and safe storage, enabling projects to run smoothly from first contact through to completion.

Her thoughtful, professional approach ensures every client receives a service that is personalised, efficient, and grounded in expertise.
